Air Fryer Bone In, Skin On Crispy, Juicy Chicken Thighs

Writer's picture: AbbyAbby

I used to make my chicken thighs in the oven, but after cooking them in the air fryer I just cannot go back! That skin is so crispy and the chicken is unbelievably juicy.

This recipe is insanely quick and easy, with only about 30-40 minutes total of prep and cook time combined. I like to serve these with homemade macaroni and broccoli, they pair each other so well!

Seriously, look how juicy! These will be the crispiest chicken thighs you've ever had, without sacrificing the incredible tenderness of the meat.

Alright, lets get to the point. :)

RECIPE

What You Need:

* 4 bone-in, skin on chicken thighs

* 2 tablespoons olive oil

Spices:

* Salt, Pepper, Paprika, Oregano, Slap Ya Mama, Garlic Powder, Onion Powder

(I always measure with my heart, so no exact measurements for the spices at this point in time- but I do put a generous amount!)

Directions:

1) Preheat your air fryer to 375f and spray your basket(s) with non stick cooking spray.

2) Pat your chicken completely dry and into a separate bowl add your olive oil and spices and mix.

3) Add your chicken to the bowl and coat thoroughly in your spices and olive oil mix.

4) Add in your chicken skin side down, being sure you have room in between each chicken thigh. You may need to do this in multiple batches depending on the size of your air fryer.

5) Cook the chicken skin side down for 10 minutes.

6) Flip over your chicken to skin side up and continue to cook for 14 minutes, for extra crispiness continue to cook in 2-3 minute increments.

Plate up and enjoy!

Additional Notes:

* Do NOT skip patting your chicken completely dry and adding olive oil, this aids to that wonderful crispy skin you get on the outside of the thigh.

* If you have a meat thermometer (highly recommended), be sure to check that the internal temp not touching bone or the bottom of the pan, is at least 165f. Otherwise check that the juices in the chicken are running clear.
