Abby's Eats and Treats
A Little of my Story
My name is Abby, I am twenty-two, and married.
For most of my life I've really struggled with keeping and maintaining hobbies, normally I would lose interest very quickly in anything I liked- change was an often must. I think I had kind of been in search of a hobby I loved for quite a while and no matter what I chose to do for a short time, whether it was photography, digital drawing, or gaming- I ended up pairing whatever I was doing with social media.

I got married when I was eighteen and was far from a chef. It's honestly kind of mind blowing looking back and realizing how much money was spent on fast food and how empty our fridge was, versus our freezer. My weekly meals that I did make were often the same: sloppy joes, hot dogs, and balogna sandwiches were a few regulars. In terms of baking, boxed cake mixes were a staple in the house. Not that it is a bad thing, but I'm also a huge foodie and started wanting more variety without spending so much a week on eating out.

Love for Cooking

November of 2021, I got tired of having the same old thing all the time and honestly, fast food was starting to taste not as good to me. I was craving home cooked meals like my grandmother used to make. So, for dinner one night I baked chicken drumsticks, macaroni, and broccoli. I decided from that night forward that those "frozen pizza days" were over. From that point, I have seriously learned so much. I'm now at the point to where I am pretty comfortable cooking most foods and do love to test myself and see how I can improve on a recipe. I love experimenting when it comes to cooking!

What I would love to do is to show people just how easy it can be and how worth it is that it is, especially if you're starting out like I did with very limited knowledge on cooking. You are in complete control, it is so fun, and for sure rewarding. I hope that my recipes can help inspire you to get in the kitchen and surprise yourself with what you can do!

Love for Baking

March of 2022, I started to get an interest in decorating cakes. It's funny looking back now because I didn't even know how to make a homemade cake at that point! So, I ordered a ridiculous amount of "must needed" items for cake decorating, received it all, and used mainly the mixer for a while. I had so many mess ups from the start, but it was the first hobby I have ever had that I felt so passionate about- baking. I continued to go to Youtube videos for help, practicing everyday, and slowly got better. Though at that point, I had learned I didn't want to stick to cake making only, but instead dabble in a little bit of everything- bread making being my favorite.

Over the course of this year, I have baked countless treats and learned so much. Baking for me is the most relaxing, rewarding hobby. I just seem to pause time when I'm in the kitchen, listening to music, and making magic. I created an Instagram solely for my baking (@sugarabbs) and since have gotten really interested in food photography, as well.

I am still experimenting a lot and having so much fun with it!

Love for Blogging

I want to say I was around thirteen when I first created my own website. At the time, it was for mental health awareness and through that, I really found a love for writing and sharing my own life experiences to help others.
The years passed and a lot of things in my life were ever changing, so the site was left to be forgotten and I started delving into other things, always coming back to social media.

So, here we are now many years later, finally having those hobbies I have always longed to have and having something that I feel I am good at.

What better way to combine that now with a blog? I can't wait to share my recipes, tricks, and tips with you and hope I can inspire you just as much as I have been from other wonderfully talented people.

Thank you for reading- let's get in the kitchen!
